Summer Reading Program Returns In Milford

MILFORD – Families can sign up for the Milford Public Library Summer Reading Club beginning this week.
The program runs from June 7 to July 24 and is for children ages infant to grade 12.
The library has lots of fun activities and crafts planned for their summer program and encourages all to participate.
MPL has prizes for meeting reading challenges and the program will end with a Grand Finale pizza party. Pizza party tickets are the prize for reading five hours. Register at any circulation desk and pick up the brochure that explains rules and details for the programs we have during the summer program. Below are rules for their summer reading club for ages infant to 5th grade. The rules and prizes for the teenage age group (grades 6-12) are in the brochure as an insert and different than the younger age bracket.
• Registration begins 1 June at any circulation desk.
• Read or listen to bbooks, magazines, eBooks or audiobooks.
• Place a sticker on your timesheet for every 20 minutes you read or are read to. Participants are encouraged to read 20 minutes a day, five days a week.
• Brag Tags are awarded if you read 100 minutes in a week.
• Read at least 5 hours and earn a ticket to the Grand Finale Pizza Party at noon on Wednesday, July 21 in the library parking lot. Drive-thru for a slice of delicious pizza and some coupons.
• Keep reading and win more prizes. Ten hours and you win a book. Fifteen hours and you win a “Build a Critter” flamingo or alligator.
Free lunch program
Lunches are available for pick up in the library parking lot on Monday and Thursday from 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. beginning June 1 – Aug. 5. On Mondays, recipients can receive breakfast and lunch for three days and Thursday’s pickup will contain breakfast and lunch for two days. The lunches are pre-bagged and pre-packaged and provide nutritious food for children. Lunches are provided by the Wawasee School Corporation. This is a free program for anyone 18 and younger. No library card or registration required.
Where’s The Gnome?
Milford Public Library’s Gnome will be exploring Milford this summer. Each week a new photo of the soon-to-be-named Gnome will be posted on our website, Facebook, and posted at each circulation desk. You need to send your guess of where he’s visiting to [email protected]. If your guess is correct, your name will be entered into a weekly drawing for a gift card!! All guesses need to be submitted by 6 p.m. on Fridays. MPL will announce the winner on Mondays.
Family Summer Story Time (virtual)
Join the family story time this summer and receive a free book each week. You can earn up to six free books. There is no age limit on family story time, the whole family is welcome. Virtual Family Story Time is scheduled for Fridays at 10:30 a.m. We will use ZOOM. Attendance will be taken at the end of Story Time. You can pick up your free book at the library after Story Time. We have a terrific line-up of dtorytellers and will have a different theme each week. We’re excited for you to join us on ZOOM. Registration needed to receive free books. No library card needed. LEGO Crew challenge winner
Congratulations to Anna Miller. She’s the winner for the May “Build A Flower” challenge and has won a brand new Lego Kit. Lego Crew will start back up in the fall.
