Kosciusko Returns To ‘Yellow’ On COVID-19 Map, Reports One New Death

WARSAW — Kosciusko County is back in the “yellow” category on both the two-metric and advisory level COVID-19 maps.
According to the Indiana Department of Health dashboard, the county’s positivity rate is 6.8%.
Whitley County is also back in the “yellow” category on IDH’s two-metric map, with a 6.2% positivity rate.
Marshall County is now in the “blue” category on IDH’s two-metric map, with a 2.9% positivity rate. If the county stays on this path for another week, Marshall can follow “blue” guidelines. However, the county must continue following “blue” guidelines for one more week.
IDH relies on a color-coded county map that measures percent positivity and new cases per 100,000 residents. The baseline for red is 15%.
The advisory level is used to establish guidelines for counties regarding restrictions on gatherings.
Kosciusko County also recently reported one new COVID-19 death, bringing the county’s total to 118. The death occurred on Saturday, May 29. The county has reported 9,578 positive cases.
Marshall County Health Department recently reported two new COVID-19 deaths. The county has recorded 6,185 positive cases and 116 COVID-19 deaths.
Wabash County Health Department also recently reported one new COVID-19 death. The death occurred on Thursday, May 27. The county has recorded 3,591 positive cases and 82 deaths.
More than 22,700 people in Kosciusko County have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19. This is up from 22,200 reported last week. An estimated 23,206 people in Kosciusko County have been administered their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
More than 2,532,000 Hoosiers are considered to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. According to statewide demographics, 53% of those fully vaccinated are individuals who are 55 and older. About 54% of people fully vaccinated are female.
Statewide, the IDH website shows the number of COVID-19 deaths in Indiana rose to 13,220.
The total positive number of reported COVID-19 cases in Indiana is now at 744,474. More than 10,464,000 COVID-19 tests have been administered to Hoosiers.
Locally, Fulton County has 1,983 positive cases, Whitley County has 4,035 positive cases, Noble County has 5,753 positive cases, and Elkhart County has 29,219.
In other northern Indiana counties, Lake County has 55,032 positive cases; Allen County has 41,441 positive cases; and St. Joseph County has 36,789 positive cases.
According to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center, more than 595,000 people in the United States have died due to COVID-19.
