Valley FFA Team Has Top Score In State Contest

AKRON — The Tippecanoe Valley FFA Livestock Judging Team is headed to the National Western Stock Show.
The team earned the trip to Denver, Colo., that will happen in January 2022 due to having the top overall score as a team in the state livestock judging contest.
That was on Saturday, May 15, at Whitko Career Academy. Members had to judge 12 classes of sheep, swine, cattle and goats then give six sets of oral reasons to judges on their placings as well as one set of questions on a class.
Team members were Taylor Biddle, who was the high individual; Sydney Petersen, who was fifth high individual; and Mallory Bowers, who was 10th high individual.
Of the individual categories, Petersen was second high in cattle; Biddle was third high in cattle; and the team was first. Biddle was fourth high in sheep; Bowers was ninth high in sheep; and the team was first. Biddle was seventh high in swine, and the team was fifth. Biddle was first in reasons; Petersen was eighth in reasons; and the team was second.
Additionally, all three individuals were awarded All-State for being on the Top 15. There were 239 individuals and 56 teams in the FFA division.
The team is coached by FFA volunteer Kraig Bowers and assisted by TVHS FFA Advisor Michael Jones.
