Richard L. “Dick” Coy, 74, Syracuse, passed away at 1:25 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2021, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse. He was born July 17, 1946, in Goshen,to Edward T. and Barbara J. (Gray) Coy.
He graduated in 1964 from Syracuse High School, was a United States Navy veteran, and was married Dec. 23, 1966, in Syracuse, to Nancy L. Plank, who survives. He retired in 2009 from Indianapolis Woodworking, Inc. (I.W.I.) in Fishers after six years. He was formerly employed at Holiday Rambler in Wakarusa and Nappanee for 13 years, Interior Wood Working Corp. in New Paris for 13 years, and was the former owner of Richard Coy Drafting & Design Co. in Syracuse. He lived in Syracuse area most of his life until February 2004 when he moved to Noblesville, and then returned to Syracuse in August 2009.
He was a 36 year member of the Syracuse Church of God where he served as deacon, trustee, and Sunday school teacher. He formerly attended the West Noblesville Community Church, Westfield Wesleyan Church, and Syracuse Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife; two sons: Robert (Melissa) Coy and Russell (Dawn) Coy, both of Syracuse; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Caryl (Daryle) Fish of Greensville, Penn.; and Lori (Andy) Brown of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three brothers: Edward “Tom” (Kathie) Coy Jr. of Fort Wayne; Donald (Christine) Coy of Melbourne, Fla.; & Paul (Colleen) Coy of Mansfield, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Coy and Barbara Leedy and son, Richard “Ricky” Coy Jr.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 27, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery with military rites.
