Gregory Gene Christoffel
Gregory Gene Christoffel, Fort Wayne, passed away on May 17, 2021.
Born April 4, 1950, in Bluffton, he was a son of Albert and Doris Christoffel.
Immediately following graduation from North Side High School in 1968, he began working as an apprentice for JB Tool, Die & Engineering, Inc. After 51 years Greg retired as a foreman and the most senior member of the company.
One of Greg’s greatest accomplishments was marrying his high school sweetheart, Sjolange (Jonie), on May 23, 1970. The two celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary surrounded by family this past year.
Greg was a selfless, caring, devoted Opa to his eight grandchildren: Carsyn, Corbin, Madyson, Jack, Leah, Grant, Evan and Logan. He loved fishing in the Florida Keys and the Great Lakes, spending many summers living on Lake Wawasee, playing euchre and traveling the world with his wife.
Greg and Jonie were blessed with amazing friendships, some which have spanned throughout their lifetime.
Together they had three children: Benjamin Christoffel, Westfield, Andrew (Beth) Christoffel, Portage, and Jessica Purkey (Brian), Goshen; and daughter-in-law, Beckett Christoffel, Indianapolis.
He is also survived by siblings: Jeanene Vanderford, Treadwell Christoffel and Lorie Christoffel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Doris Christoffel; and brother, Timothy Christoffel.
Details of a celebration will be shared at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
