WARSAW — A Warsaw author’s first children’s book is coming out Wednesday, May 19.
Kristine McQuown will have a live launch video for her book “Good Boy, Nacho!” at noon Wednesday on the Miriam Laundry Fan Page on Facebook.
The book is aimed at children ages 4-8, but McQuown notes her 10-year-old grandson also enjoys it. It tells the story of Benny and Nacho.
“They explore sunny days, family, friends – both human and four-legged – unconditional love, and a bit of squirrel chasing too!” she told InkFreeNews.
She said she hopes kids come away with “a smile” after reading it.
“It is a sweet, feel-good story about a boy and his dog, written in lyrical rhyme with fun, colorful illustrations,” she said. “It does touch on pet care, pet adoption, family and responsibility as well.”
McQuown said she was inspired to write the book by the real Nacho, her 13-year-old Chihuahua-terrier mix.
McQuown’s niece Delaney McQuown, who studies art at the University of Cincinnati, is the illustrator for the book. The publisher is Miriam Laundry Publishing.
The book costs $12.95 and will be sold in paperback and Kindle forms on Amazon. People also may purchase it via McQuown’s website, studioknm.com, beginning on Thursday, May 20.
McQuown said she’s already written another children’s book. Along with her husband Matt McQuown, she’s also writing a book compiled of short stories from Generation X.
In addition to the launch Wednesday, McQuown’s working on a special event for June with Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County Executive Director Sally Scott.
