INDIANAPOLIS – The roadmap has been unfolded for 305 teams as the IHSAA announced its tournament draw for the girls tennis state tournament.
Play begins Wednesday across the state at 64 sectional sites, and three locals hosts contain the IFN coverage area programs.
At Sectional 48 at NorthWood, the host Panthers will take on Bethany Christian opposite Fairfield and Goshen on Wednesday. If chalk holds, the three-time defending champion Panthers could face the undefeated Falcons in the final on Thursday.
At Sectional 49 at Bremen, Plymouth and LaVille open up the tournament on Wednesday. Coming back to the DeSanits Courts on Thursday are Bremen and John Glenn, with Triton getting the winner of Plymouth and LaVille. The final is penciled in for Friday.
At Sectional 52 at Columbia City, Warsaw is the technical host but City will provide the facility. The Tigers, winners of the past 19 sectional titles, will have the long road to go, facing Whitko on Wednesday. Tippecanoe Valley and Columbia City will square off on Thursday, the Wednesday winner meeting Wawasee also on Thursday, and the final back at Columbia City on Friday.
In the regional, NorthWood’s winner will travel to Northridge to take on the West Noble champion, opposite Northridge and Angola champions. At Plymouth, Warsaw and Bremen champions will meet in the semi-final, with Knox and Peru champions playing on the other side of the bracket.
The Northridge regional champion will go to the Homestead semi-state, the Plymouth regional champion going to the LaPorte semi-state.
The IHSAA State Finals stepladder will begin the weekend of June 4-5 at Carmel and Center Grove High Schools, with the semi-finals and finals at North Central High School.
