Judith Ann Ancil, 79, formerly of North Webster, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021, at her new home in Columbia City. Born March 2, 1942, in Selma, she was the daughter of Bill Cox and Geneva (Hendricks) Sanders.
Growing up in Grant county, Judy graduated from Marion High School with the Class of 1960. One day while being at Custer’s Last Stand Drive-In in Marion, Judy’s life would change when she met James Ancil. Even though they grew up just six houses from each other, they never officially met until that day. They went on to be married Dec. 8, 1962. After their two sons grew up, Judy went back to college in the late 70’s for accounting and graduated from Indiana Business College. Over the years she had worked for Ross Supply and Plumbing and managed Northgate Apartments before retiring in 2001.
In 2002, she and Jim moved from Grant County to live on Irish Lake and then North Webster Lake. A few weeks ago, they moved to Columbia City. Judy enjoyed tending to her flowers, scrapbooking, crafts and she was a talented painter. She loved living on the lake and having her family with her there and she adored her grandchildren and great-grandson.
Judith is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, James Ancil; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Donna Ancil of South Whitley and Jeff and Sherry Ancil of McCordsville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Billy Cox.
Per Judy’s wishes, there are no public services. Arrangements with DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City.
