Culver Academy Claims Concord Title
A pairing of potential regional opponents took to the Bent Oak golf course Saturday as part of the Concord Invite.
Culver Academy shot a 339 to win the invite, nine strokes better than the 348s from South Bend St. Joe and NorthWood. Northridge was one stroke off the runner-up pace and Concord at 351 for fifth among the 15-team field. Wawasee was part of the field, shooting a 377 to tie with Fairfield down the list in ninth.
NorthWood saw Earl Williams pace the squad with an 81. Jon Cripe came in at 88, one better than Kyle Cripe’s 89 and Cooper Wiens a shot back at 90. Ben Vincent had the fifth score at 103.
Jay Finlinson led Wawasee with a 92, one better than Brandon Tayagua’s 93. Vaughn Dyson posted a 95 and Caleb Clevenger had a 97. Aiden Jonsson’s 107 came into play with Fairfield, as the two used Jonsson’s score versus Dylan Yoder’s 109 as the fifth-man tiebreaker in the team standings.
Culver Academy’s Owen Hart and AJ Davidson each shot an 83, Rory Sullivan had an 85 and Drew Collins an 88 to lead the Eagles to the title.
Atop the individual leaderboard was Elkhart Christian Academy ace Aiden Hibbard, who shot a 75 on the Bent Oak expanse for individual honors. Concord’s Will Harris shot a 76 and Brock Reschly of Northridge had a 77 for third.
Zionsville Wins Warsaw JV Invite
Zionsville traveled to Warsaw and took home honors as the top outfit at the Warsaw JV Invite.
Zionsville shot a 320 to best Warsaw by 14 strokes atop an 11-team field that included seven of the eight Northern Lakes Conference clubs. Penn, Columbia City and Valpo also had teams in the star-studded program lineup.
NorthWood shot a 381 and Wawasee a 412 among the teams.
Brady Chupp shot a 91 to lead the Panthers.
