Samaritans Rescue Victims From Overturned Vehicle In Water

SYRACUSE — Shortly before 9 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, May 5, a Kia Optima went off SR 13, south of Sleepy Owl, and overturned in a marsh area at CR 650E. A female and child were trapped inside the overturned vehicle.
A firefighter came up on the crash. He reported two samaritans, who happened to be at the right place at the right time, had stopped and helped the occupants from the vehicle before he arrived. Turkey Creek Fire Territory Chief Mickey Scott expressed sincere appreciation to those two people, who had left the scene shortly after the rescue.
Turkey Creek Fire Territory responded to the scene along with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.
The female driver and child were treated at the scene, but refused transport to an area hospital.
