Warsaw Announces A Host Of Summer Camps

WARSAW – Warsaw Community High School posted a series of summer camp opportunities involving its high school programs.

Volleyball – July 12-16
The camps will be split into three age groups based off incoming grade – K-3, 4-6 and 7-8. Intent of the camps are to learn fundamentals of volleyball, develop teamwork and sportsmanship, build character and self-esteem, and have fun! WCHS coaches and players will help conduct the camp.
Cost for the camp ranges from $40-80.
Tiger Cub/Junior Tiger Football – July 12-16
The Tiger Cub camp is for boys in first through sixth grade, junior tigers for seventh and eighth graders. Led by WCHS head coach Bart Curtis and his staff, drills are based on building skills. The basic building blocks for Tiger football, the Tiger flexbone offense will be taught, as well as kicking game skills and defensive drills.
The Tiger Cub camp runs from 8:30-10 a.m. each day, the Junior Tiger camp runs from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Cost for the camp is $50, or $60 if registered after June 30.
Boys Basketball – May 10-19, May 25-27, June 1-4, June 7-10
Coach Matt Moore and his boys basketball program are offering a series of camps for elementary and middle school children.
Session A is a Shooting Camp, which takes place on four days in May, starting on the 10th, for grades 1-2, 3-5 and 6-8. Basics and fundamentals of shooting the ball.
Session B is a Skills Camp, running from June 1-4 for grades 1-2 and 3-6. The coaching staff will teach valuable facets of the game, including dribbling, ball handling, jump shots and power layups. Fundamental station stats will be kept daily.
Session C is a Middle School Elite Camp, spanning June 7-10 for entering seventh and eighth graders. This is an exposure opportunity for those looking to move through the Warsaw program. Knowledge of the offensive system used at the Warsaw varsity level will be taught, and players will be evaluated for potential play at Super Hoops in July.
Bonus Session is a Father/Son Camp, intended for 3-8 and limited to 24 pairings. Mothers are welcome to attend with a son as well. The camp is May 25-27 and geared to the experience of one generation to the next. Special speakers are planned for the event and plenty of activities and games are on the schedule.
Costs vary based off the camp and the number of children attending.
Girls Basketball – June 21-25, July 13-15, July 19-21
The girls program is planning four separate camps, all based on fundamentals and the proper approach to the game of basketball.
A Fundamental Camp for grades 1-6 is June 21-25 for grades 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6, with skills broken down in a way players can understand them and put them into use.
Middle School Team Camp is June 21-25 for grades 7-8 as a primer camp for those intending to play at the high school level. Varsity head coach Lenny Krebs will focus on the offensive and defensive systems as well as transitions and press offenses.
Finishing School Camp is July 13-15 for grades 5-8 for those looking to work on becoming a consistent scorer at the highest levels. Different aspects of scoring will be taught.
Shooting Camp is July 19-21 for grades 1-4 and 5-8. Another shooting opportunity, this camp will teach fundamentals of being a great shooter based off proper footwork, release point and follow through. Advance shooting will include shooting on the move as well as off the dribble.
Camps vary in price from $25-50, with discounts for those entering multiple camps.
Boys Summer Golf – June 21-24
This one will take place at Rozella Ford Golf Club in the shadows of Warsaw Community High School. Children in grades 3-5 go from 8:30-10 a.m. and 6-8 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Fundamentals of the game, sunshine, and working on the golf game are all on the docket.
Cost of the camp is $50 per camper.
