Constance J. ‘Joan’ Moore — UPDATED
Constance J. “Joan” Moore, 92, Leesburg, passed away at 8:27 a.m. on Monday, May 3, 2021, at her home. She was born Nov. 27, 1928, in Fort Wayne, to Frank A. and Al-Aroma (Merrick) Green.
She attended South Side High School in Fort Wayne, graduated from Wawasee High School in Syracuse, and Warner Beauty School in Fort Wayne. She was married Sept.7, 1946, in Warsaw, to Russell J. “Russ” Moore who preceded her Feb. 13, 2018. She moved to Leesburg area in 1949 from Fort Wayne and retired as owner and operator of Joan’s Beauty Salon in Leesburg after 33 years.
She was a member of the North Webster Church of God and former member of the Pythian Sisters Past Chiefs Club in North Webster.
She is survived by her daughters: Cynthia (Scott) Beehler of Nappanee; and Sandra Stewart of Cromwell; two sons: Tom (Rosie) Moore of South Lake, Texas; and Phillip Moore of Leesburg; eight grandchildren: Jeff (Lynn) Moore, Renee Conley, Bret (Cassie) Beehler, Brandon Beehler, Austin Stewart, Michael Moore, Sybil (Brandon) Linville, and Sarah Moore; 13 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; sister: Margaret Dyke of San Diego, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Brian Beehler, sister, Sarah Roberts, and brother, James Green.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 and CR 500N, North Webster. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor J.J. Perry officiating. Burial will be in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery.
Preferred memorials may be given to the Lakeland Art Association or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
