SYRACUSE – Yes, it did snow last week. And, yes, spring sports are already prepping for conference tournaments and sectional draws. However, Wawasee High School proudly announced its recipients Thursday morning for its winter sports Warrior Way Award winners along with its pair of blanket winners.
The Warrior Way Award is given to one athlete per sport who exhibits not only solid play in its sport but sportsmanship and excellence outside of the arena. Wawasee continued the award tradition among its seasonal awards.
Recipients include Kameron Salazar for boys basketball, Tate Cowan for girls basketball, Joe Hackleman for boys swimming, Alexis Mishler for girls swimming, Kylie Fisher for cheerleading, Cameron Zimmerman for wrestling and Emma Ebright for gymnastics.
Also present Thursday morning were two blanket winners, earned via 18 total points and seven varsity letter accumulation. The two recipients from the winter sports season were Rileigh Atwood and Kylie Fisher.
