Margaret M. Weigley
Margaret M. Weigley, 99, peacefully passed away at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Catherine Kasper Life Center, Donaldson.
She was born in Gary, Dec. 1, 1921, to Charles H. and Mary (McFarland) Kelly. She graduated from Donaldson High School with the class of 1939.
Margaret entered the Poor Handmaids at the age of 1942 as Sister Martin. She professed her vows in 1947. Her ministry included working 10 years at Lake County Convalescent Home, St. Catherine’s in East Chicago, Indiana, and Catherine Kasper Home in Donaldson. She was an Associate Poor Handmaid of Jesus Christ since 1952 and a member of Ancilla Domini Chapel. Her final dispensation was in 1978.
On July 16, 1981, at All Saints Church in Hammond, Margaret married Julius G. Weigley. The couple had a love for dancing. He would precede her in death on January 24, 2000.
Margaret is survived by her nieces and nephews: Mary Ann Henke, Robert Kelly, Arlene Hannon, Patrick (Margie) Kelly and Lynn Kelly; stepchildren, Julius Weigley, Connie Weddell and Eileen Bowen (deceased); great-nieces and nephews; and step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at the Ancilla Domini Chapel at the Center of Donaldson, Saturday, April 24, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The Mass of Resurrection will follow in the Chapel at 10:30 a.m. and burial will follow the Liturgy in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Donaldson, IN.
