Jerome O. Schwartz
Jerome O. Schwartz, 82, Nappanee, died at 12:18 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2021, at Goshen General Hospital. He was born Nov. 21, 1938, in Berne, to Adam L. and Mary (Bontrager) Schwartz. Jerome Schwartz was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and lived his entire married life in the Nappanee area.
Jerome married Erma Miller on July 4, 1968, in Milford. She preceded him in death Sept. 25, 2013. On Nov. 25, 2015, he married Josephine (Wickey-Schwartz). She preceded him in death on July 9, 2019.
Jerome is survived by two daughters: Kristina (Marlin) Borkholder and Rebecca (Glen) Schmucker; and three sons: Marion (Mary Sue) Schwartz, Dennis (Sheryl) Schwartz, and Merle (Jolene) Schwartz, all of Nappanee. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; step daughters Ernestine (Sam) Girod of Syracuse; and Sara Etta (Abe) Eicher of Berne; stepsons Alvin (Lovina) Schwartz of Monroe; Kevin (Barbara) Schwartz of Guthrie, Ky.; LeRoy (Christine) Schwartz of Portland; Lonnie (Barbara) Schwartz of Laurel; and Denny (Laura) Schwartz of Lofton, Ky.; 53 step-grandchildren; many step-great-grandchildren; brother Martin (Edna) Schwartz of New Paris; sister Edna Hochstetler of Topeka; sister-in-law, Barbara Schwartz of Berne.
Jerome Schwartz was preceded in death by his parents; his two wives; a great granddaughter Grace Schwartz; sisters: Sarah Schwartz, Lydiann Hilty, Polly Young and Clara Hilty; brothers: Dan, Levi, Harvey, and Alvin Schwartz.
Friends and family may call after 2 p.m. Monday, April 19, and after 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, at the Marion Schwartz Residence (25280 CR 52, Nappanee). Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., also at the Marion Schwartz residence. Home Ministries of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate and burial will take place at Union Center West Cemetery.
