James Robert Reed — UPDATED
James Robert “Jim” Reed, 89, Warsaw, passed away at 10:05 a.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Grace Village Healthcare in Winona Lake. He was born Aug. 8, 1931, in Peru, to Emmor D. and Doris L. (Hearell) Reed.
He grew up in Fulton, graduated from Fulton High School, and served in the Korean War with the United Sates Navy from 1951 – 1954. After serving in the Navy he lived most of his life in Nappanee and Warsaw. He retired in 2011 as a security guard for Fairmont Homes in Nappanee after more than 20 years. He also formerly worked at Jones Food Market in Leesburg as a butcher for several years.
He formerly attended the Nappanee Missionary Church where he accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized. One of his great passions was training and showing horses.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter: Jody (Steven) Hopper of Warsaw; two grandchildren: Jessica (Jason) Harreld of Warsaw; Zachary (Bunni) Hopper of Columbia City; great-grandson: Hudson Lee Harreld.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. SR 15, Warsaw. Burial will be in the Fulton County Cemetery. A private family celebration will take place at a later date.
Preferred memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.
