ISP Master Trooper Jeremy Chapman Retires After 26 Years
Press Release
BREMEN — Indiana State Police Master Trooper Jeremy Chapman is set to retire after a career spanning 26 years with the Indiana State Police.
However, his career with ISP will continue as he takes on a civilian role, working for the ISP Criminal Justice Data Division. In this new role, Chapman will be a systems administrator providing technical support for the department’s Law Enforcement Recording Device (LERD) program.
Chapman, a Winamac native and graduate of Eastern Pulaski Schools, was appointed to the department in December 1994 after graduating from the ISP 51st Recruit Academy. Chapman holds a bachelor’s degree he earned from Purdue University.
Chapman was initially assigned to the Lafayette District. While there, he spent four years working with the Problem Oriented Police program. In 2003, Chapman was assigned as a detective out of the ISP Bremen Post. He served as a detective for several years before joining the Cyber Crime Unit. In 2005, Chapman was promoted to the position of sergeant in the Cyber Crime Unit.
One of the many distinctions that Chapman holds dear from his time with the Indiana is becoming a member of the ISP Possible Club in June 1995. This distinction is earned for outstanding marksmanship in shooting. Chapman shot perfect scores to earn this achievement. The ISP Possible Club was first awarded in 1946. Since its inception, only 311 troopers have earned this distinction. A plaque with each member’s name hangs at the ISP General Headquarters in Indianapolis.
Chapman lives in Marshall County with his wife of 26 years, Jamie. He has two sons, Graham and Hardy, who both attend college. Chapman is a second-generation trooper. His father, Master Trooper Edwin Chapman, retired from ISP in 2000.
