Huntington North Baseball 2, Warsaw 1
The tough start to the season continued for Warsaw, falling late to Huntington North Thursday afternoon.
A double steal in the top of the sixth was the deciding run. While Warsaw got the out at second, the go-ahead runner snuck home from third.
Warsaw’s (0-4) lone run came on a solo homer by Joey Springer in the bottom half of the second.
Three Viking pitchers combined to strike out 11 Tigers and hold the hosts to two hits.
Wawasee Baseball 9, Columbia City 2
The Warriors moved to 4-0 on the campaign with a home win over the Eagles.
Kam Salazar and Grant Brooks each had three hits and combined to drive in five runs. Parker Young tripled and drove in a run and the Warriors totaled five stolen bases.
Brooks had a solid outing on the bump, holding the Eagles to four hits and fanning 11, working into the sixth inning.
Plymouth Baseball 31, Triton 0
Triton’s struggles continued Thursday in Plymouth, where it couldn’t get out of a disastrous third inning.
After the Pilgrims had already plated eight runs after two innings, the turnstyles went wild for Plymouth in the third, scoring 23 runs.
Bradey Pittman and Ivan Winkle each scored four runs, Tanner Feece and Skyler Aker each drove in five runs and Matt Manzuk had four hits and three RBI.
Plymouth pitching held Triton to just two singles and one walk.
Winamac Softball 9, Tippecanoe Valley 0
The honeymoon start for Valley softball came to an abrupt end Thursday in a home loss to the Warriors.
Playing to a 1-0 score through five innings, Winamac scored three in the sixth and five more in the seventh.
After scoring 42 runs in its first three wins of the season, Valley was limited to just a Kayleena Agnew double as its only hit.
Aubrey Gearhart struck out three and let her defense do the work in gathering the shutout.
Goshen Softball 18, Triton 1
Goshen skipper Brent Culp won his 350th career game as the RedHawks disposed of the visiting Trojans.
Goshen scored three runs in each of the first two innings before plastering an 11 on the scoreboard in the third inning.
Tyra Marcum went 4-for-4 with four runs scored, Jenna Roll homered and drove in four, and Reghan Yoder doubled and knocked in three. Liz Ramirez struck out 10 in the complete game win in the circle.
Jolid Groves was 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Trojans, which fall to 3-3 on the season.
