Charles L. Hunter
Charles L. “Chuck” Hunter, 92, formerly of Mentone, and currently of Mansfield, Ohio, passed at 10:20 a.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Elmcroft Assisted Living of Ontario, Ohio.
Chuck was born on April 27, 1928, in Peru, to the late Lloyd Allen and Myrtle May (Boyer) Hunter. He married the love of his life on Feb. 27, 1949, to Lois I. Baum, she preceded him in death on May 28, 2015.
He was a graduate of Peru High School. He worked for Manwaring Leghorn Farms for over 40 years as a hatchery foreman. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Mentone. Chuck was known to build many things, including his own home. He enjoyed farm work which included shearing sheep. He enjoyed music as well, especially gospel quartets.
He is survived by his daughter Rebecca and husband Gary Thomas of Ontario, Ohio; son Mark and wife Deb Hunter of Fort Gratiot, Mich.; grandchildren: Kristine Thomas of Ontario, Ohio; Kendra and husband Jeremy Ingle of Marysville, Ohio; Kasey and husband Jim Rader of Mansfield, Ohio; Shane and wife Abby Hunter of Marlette, Mich.; and Heather Hunter of Fort Gratiot , Mich.; great-grandchildren: Peyton Ingle, Emily Ingle, Garrett Ingle, Calah Rader, Grace Rader, Marlea Rader, Joyanna Rader, Elijah Rader, Levi Rader, Hope Rader, Gabby Hunter, Zoey Hunter, Eliot Hunter, and Finlee Hunter; and a sister Carolyn Fivecoate of Mentone.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lois Hunter; a great granddaughter Faith Rader; sisters Juanita Ziegler, Annabelle Rathbun, Irene Liebo; and brothers Delbert, Robert, DeVerl, and Lloyd Jr.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 19, in the Mentone Cemetery, Mentone, with speakers Jim Rader and Shane Hunter officiating.
The arrangements are entrusted to King Memorial Home 101 North Tucker Street Mentone, Indiana.
