Richard C. Firestone — UPDATED
Richard C. “Butch” Firestone, 73, North Webster, passed away at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse.
He was born on Aug. 25, 1947, in Warsaw, to Lawrence L. and Velva B. Brown Firestone.
He graduated from Syracuse High School, was a United States Army veteran and lived most of his life in the Syracuse/North Webster area. He formerly was employed by Smoker Craft Boat in New Paris for 20-plus years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #223 in Syracuse, Eagles Lodge in Syracuse and a lifetime member of the former VFW in Syracuse. He formerly attended the Church of God in Syracuse.
He is survived by a daughter, Dawn (Jeremy) Yoder, of Syracuse; son, Larry (Kristen) Firestone, of Leesburg; five grandchildren; sister, Sue (Carl) Freel, of Syracuse; two brothers, Robert Firestone, of Goshen, and John Firestone, of Florida; and one brother-in-law, Tom Hoover, of Syracuse.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Vicki Hoover; and brother, Dennis Firestone.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 16 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Memorial services will follow at 6 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home, with Pastor Stan Owen officiating. A private funeral will take place at a later date.
Preferred memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.
