O’Connor, Green Earn Weekly Track Honors

WINONA LAKE – Two sprinters for Grace’s track and field team were honored with weekly awards on Monday.
John Green was named the NCCAA National Track Athlete of the Week, and Gracious O’Connor was named the Crossroads League Track Athlete of the Week.
Green was a part of two strong finishes at the Manchester Invitational on Saturday. He won the 200-meter race (21.71 seconds) and also helped the 4×100 relay break a school record with a time of 42.14. The other members of the relay were Isaac Findley, Michael Williams and Braden Smith.
O’Connor owned the short sprint at the Manchester Invitational. She won the 100 with a time of 12.44 seconds. She also teamed up to win the 4×100 relay in a school-record time of 48.22 seconds, good for an NAIA “B” standard. The other members of the 4×100 were Julia Malson, Nordia Campbell and Sarah O’Day.
Next up, the Lancers will compete in the Little State Championships on Friday and Saturday in Marion, Ind.
