James T. Mulry M.D.
James T. Mulry M.D., 73, Cromwell, passed away at 5:40 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Goshen Hospital. He was born Dec. 5, 1947, in Bethesda, Md. to William and Jean (Burns) Mulry.
He graduated from Central High School in Omaha, Neb., Omaha University, and received his doctorate from the University of Iowa. He was married to Delores Ann “Dee” (Stariha) Milton who preceded him on Jan. 7, 2018. He retired as a doctor at Syracuse Family Practice after 20+ years and he formerly practiced in Springfield, Ill., Eau Claire, Wisc., and Whitewater, Wisc. He moved to the Syracuse / Cromwell area in 1999 from Whitewater, Wisc.
He was a member of the Rock Church in Cromwell and was a Martial Arts Black Belt. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved boating and fishing, as well as bow hunting in the fall. Until his illnesses prevented him, he loved and excelled at running. He spent his life caring for others, his family was his focus. His career also centered on helping others and finding new and different ways to accomplish this goal. He was rarely seen without a book or two, and studied eastern medicine to give his patients an alternative to western prescriptions and therapies through acupuncture and herbs. He was very active in AA and was a sponsor and support to many battling addiction. He is so loved and will be so missed.
He is survived by his daughter: Brianne (Nathan) McLaughlin of Mason City, Ill.; three step-daughters: Robin (J. Brian) Messick of Cromwell, Joy Caton of Phoenix, Ariz., and Julie (Randy) Castetter of Elkhart; two grandsons: Wyatt and Emmett; five step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; and four step-great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Kitty Smith of Omaha, Neb.; and Rosie Vanston of Denver, Colo.; brother: Dr. Charles Mulry of Carmel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Amanda Mulry, and stepson, Shawn Milton.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. SR 15, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, May 17, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Memorial services will follow at 7 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Sarah Tuttle officiating.
