Dorothy Symons-Flora, 94, Elkhart and a longtime Warsaw resident, passed away at Golden Living Center, Elkhart on Thursday, April 1, 2021, just before 7 p.m.
The daughter of Melvin and Pearl Larrew of Larwill, she was born in Whitley County on July 11, 1926. She was married to Hallie Symons who preceded her in passing in 1980. Though she was later remarried, Hallie was the love of her life.
Professionally, Dorothy worked for Blue Bell and later for Tiara Vans in the sewing department. She enjoyed painting and reading until her eyesight would no longer allow her to do so. She was straight-forward and honest and will be remembered for her feisty personality.
Those who survive with memories to cherish include her son, Tom Symons of Elkhart; great-granddaughter, Tanesha Rhoades of Sacramento, Calif.; great-great-grandson, Kayden; sisters, Doris Banghart of Warsaw and Barbara (William) McDaniel of Lucas, Texas; and brother, David Larrew of Mentone. She was preceded in passing by sister, Maxine Millington; brother, Marvin Larrew; infant brother, Lewis Larrew and granddaughter, Rae Ann Symons.
Friends may join the family for visitation from noon-1 p.m. Monday, April 12, at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. Beginning at 1 p.m., Titus Funeral Home’s Sharon Brockhaus will officiate Dorothy’s Life Celebration® service. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
