Di Anne Smith, 77, rural Claypool, (Yellow Creek Lake) passed at 7:25 p.m., Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at her residence.
Di Anne was born on Dec. 20, 1943, in Mentone, to the late Lester E. and Pauline (Blackford) Blackburn. She married June 6, 1964, in the Harrison Center Church of Etna Green, Indiana to Charles Russell Smith, who preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 2015.
Di Anne was a 1962 graduate of Mentone High School. She then graduated from Ravenscroft Beauty College of Ft. Wayne. She was a lifetime member of the Lakeland Art Association. She was known for her works in acrylic, oil paint, and pencil drawing and made many murals. She loved gardening and was always very crafty. She enjoyed shopping and watching QVC. Di Anne also liked traveling with her family, especially her sisters, and even saw New Zealand and Australia.
She is survived by her daughter, Michele and husband Scott Fox of Warsaw; son, Troy and wife Sandy Smith of Claypool; grandsons: Chris Fox and Brandon Fox; brother Burdell Blackburn of Tennessee; and sisters: Sue Rupert of Columbia City; and Linda Jones of Claypool.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a granddaughter Courtney Fox.
Private family services were held and the interment was in the Mentone Cemetery, Mentone, next to her husband.
