Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 10:12 p.m. Thursday, April 8, North CR 800E south of East CR 1000N, Syracuse. Driver: Felda R. Miner, 22, North Koher Road, Syracuse. Miner was traveling northbound on CR 800E south of CR 1000N, Syracuse. Attempting to turn west onto CR 1000N, she missed her turn and began to back up in the roadway, Her vehicle left the side of the T intersection located at CR 1000N and CR 800E and struck a utility pole and a roadway sign. Miner said she’s never received a driver’s license. Damage: Up to $25,000.
- 6:20 a.m. Thursday, April 8, East SR 14 and South Packerton Road, Claypool. Drivers: Jamie R. Bender, 20, CR 35, Goshen, Mark E. Roser, 67, Highland Drive, Wabash, and Donald E. Dewitt, 61, East Constitution Drive, Syracuse. Bender said she didn’t remember what happened during the crash. Roser said he was traveling eastbound on SR 14 and observed Bender’s vehicle stopped and waiting to turn. Her vehicle turned right in front of his vehicle, and he was unable to avoid striking it. Roser’s vehicle and trailer left the right side of the roadway and struck landscape and a tree. Dewitt said he was following Bender’s vehicle and they both came to a complete stop on SR 14. After Bender’s vehicle was struck by Roser’s, it spun around and struck his. Bender was airlifted to a hospital after complaining of abdominal and head pain. Roser had cuts on his head. He was inspected by EMS, but not transported. Dewitt complained of hip and head pain and was taken to a hospital. Damage: Up to $100,000.
