Richard ‘Dick’ Higgins
Richard “Dick” Higgins, 95, Warsaw, passed away at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021, in Parkview Randallia Hospital, Fort Wayne. Dick was born Jan. 18, 1926, in Akron, to Forrest and Marion (Horman) Higgins. He was united in marriage to Mary Davis on Nov. 12, 1961 in Warsaw; she preceded him in death on January 29, 2012.
Dick proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 during WWII. During his career he was a farmer, a Federal Deputy Game Warden, and a Conservation Officer for the State of Indiana. Dick’s family was the original owner of Jonah Club and he enjoyed catering for local fish frys. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, V.F.W. # 1126, and American Legion Post #49. He was a regular attendee of the Pathway Church of Warsaw. Dick enjoyed his time in Wyoming on the ranch, hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
Dick is survived by a daughter Suzan Higgins of Warsaw; a son David (Amy) Higgins of Winona Lake; two grandsons, Joshua (Kylie) Higgins, Warsaw; and Benjamin (fiancé Jessica Clark) Higgins, Denver, Colo.; sister, Betty Rauth; and his special friend that was like a son to him, John (Nancy) Sullivan. He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, Mary Higgins, and brother, Tom Higgins.
A gathering in celebration of Dick’s life will be held at Pathway Church of Warsaw, at 1 p.m.
Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Jarod Osborne will be officiating the service. Interment will be private in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with military honors rendered by V.F.W. # 1126, and American Legion Post #49.
