United Way Recruiting Volunteers For ‘Read United’ Program
Press Release
WARSAW — This spring, United Way is partnering with Warsaw Community Schools and Whitley County Consolidated Schools for Read United.
This program allows volunteers to read to kindergarten, first and second grade classes once a week for four weeks. Normally, volunteers would enter the classroom and have an opportunity to get to know the students and teachers. This year is a little different as volunteers will connect to classrooms via Zoom calls.
Since last summer, more than 150 volunteers have been a part of Read United. According to volunteers, the Zoom calls are highly successful. Volunteers will have a wonderful experience this spring with the same process.
United Way needs 65 volunteer readers. Once a week, for four weeks, a reader shares a book with a classroom via Zoom.
If interested, visit the United Way website and sign up or contact Katelyn Leamon at [email protected] or at (574) 269-2592.
The registration deadline is April 7. Zoom calls begin the week of April 12.
