National Library Week
April 4-10 is National Library Week! Our nation’s libraries, workers, and their contributions are celebrated, at the same time, Library use and support are promoted.
“Welcome to Your Library” is the theme for National Library Week 2021. Award-winning actress and avid reader, Natalie Portman is this year’s honorary chair. As a lifelong fan of books, she frequently shares what she’s reading on her Instagram under the hashtag #whatnatreads. She just finished her debut picture book, “Natalie Portman’s Fables.”
Libraries offer endless opportunities to transform lives through education and lifelong learning, whether people visit virtually or in person. Library workers continue to exceed their communities’ demands and adapt resources and services to meet their users’ needs during these challenging times.
First sponsored in 1958, The American Library Association (ALA) sponsors and observes National Library Week across the country each April. All types of libraries – school, public, academic and special – participate.
In celebration, The Milford Public Library will be giving away one new book a day in both the Adult and Children’s Departments. Patrons may participate daily by entering their names into a drawing located at the circulation desks.
Spring break crafts
Free spring break craft kits are available April 2-9. We’ve put together children’s craft kits containing seven spring themed crafts and various activities they can work on during spring break. Pick up a kit today at the children’s circulation desk while supplies last.
