Betty Elaine Pope
Betty Elaine Pope was born Jan. 17, 1925, in Bourbon.
She married Richard Farner Pope and had four children; Wayne Richard Pope, Guy Colby Pope (deceased), Sharron Ruth Tucker, and Steven Lloyd Pope. She was an Army wife and moved a lot during her 23 years of marriage, both stateside and overseas, and traveled extensively throughout her life. She instilled a love of travel and music to all her family and never met a stranger.
She was a career musician, whether playing for church, at various schools as an accompanist, or for The El Paso Natural Gas Company Choraliers, and was a member of the American Guild of Organists.
Betty also believed in community service and was even elected Grand Marshall for Bourbon after returning to the community where she was born, and having volunteered her talents playing at several area churches, for the seniors at the Matchett Center, as well as Triton Jr/Sr High School.
She was also an accomplished seamstress. She supported herself while also helping to raise generations of her family.
Betty has six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Triton Jr/Sr High School music program or to your favorite charity.
The family thanks their friends and community for their support during these difficult times.
