NORTH WEBSTER — The morning was mild and beautiful today as the Easter Bunny greeted hundreds of kids at Camp Crosley. The North Webster Church of God held its inaugural Community Easter Egg Hunt to the delight of many youngsters and parents, alike.
Last Easter, most Easter egg hunts were cancelled as the early stages of the COVID-19 lockdown were taking hold across the country. Fortunately for the eager hunters, this year is bringing new and renewed opportunities to make up for lost time.
The event was conducted in four stages, with kids from 0-12 divided into age groups. The younger two groups had the opportunity to conduct their hunt with the aid of their parents, while the older groups were set off into their respective fields with nothing but a keen eye and a basket.
Prior to the hunt, or afterwards in the case of some, the kids had the chance to have their photo taken the Easter Bunny, each walking away with a stuffed toy of their choice. There also was plenty of free donuts, hot chocolate and coffee available for everyone in attendance.
According to the church, more than 15,000 eggs, most filled with a variety of candy, were available to be found. Some eggs contained instructions for kids to claim special, larger prizes at the prize tent after they completed the hunt.
The event also included a petting zoo with a variety of animals. Kids had the opportunity to have an up-close look at baby pigs, bunnies, goats, a turkey and even a horse.
