Paul Dean Reed
Paul Dean Reed, 67, rural Akron, died unexpectedly at his home at 1:31 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021.
He was born on April 24, 1953, in Rochester, to Lloyd F. and Francis “Grethel” Hutchison Reed. Dean had lived all of his life in the Akron area.
He retired in July of 2014 from DePuy Synthes Orthopaedics, later Johnson & Johnson, in Warsaw, where he worked as a polisher. He was married to Velvet Mannies and later divorced. Together, they had four children. He was a former member of the Akron Masonic Lodge.
Surviving Dean are two sons: John Dean Reed, of Akron; and Joseph Aland (spouse Kayla) Reed, of Columbus; two daughters: Emilea Arnie (Reed) (spouse Ron) Kenworthy, of Poneto; and Ashlynn Nicole Reed, of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren: John Wyatt, Cody Dean, Emma Elise, Kora Jo, Cleyton Lane, Connor Aland and Faith Brooklyn; two brothers: Michael (spouse Mary Lou) Reed, of Akron; and David Reed, of Austel, Ga.; three sisters: Marcille Needham, of Wabash; Joyce Greer, of Peru; and Wanda Wildermuth, of Rochester; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Dean in death are his parents; one brother, James “Jim” Reed; two sisters: Marilyn Maynard and Carol Leedy; and one granddaughter, Kali Marie Reed.
A public visitation with the family will be on Saturday, March 27, at the Silver Creek Church of God, 6504 W. CR 1300S, Silver Lake, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The memorial service will begin at 1 p.m., officiated by Pastor Dave Philips, with burial and committal service at the Silver Creek Cemetery.
