Lora Ann Clingerman
Lora Ann Clingerman, 61, Columbia City, died at 2:18 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne where she had been a patient for the past two weeks.
Born on June 25, 1959, in Columbia City, she was a daughter of the late Jimmy Edward Babcock and Cynthia Paulette (Graves) Babcock. Throughout her childhood the family moved frequently with her father’s job. She started school in Columbia City then Wawasee, then Thompson Falls, Montana. Returning to the area she attended Tippecanoe Valley, Columbia City, Churubusco, and completed her schooling at Whitko High School.
After finishing high school, she lived in Wabash for about seven years, then Larwill and then Columbia City where she has resided for the past 20 years.
In addition to being a homemaker raising two children, she worked for United Technologies, Columbia City for about 17 years until they shuttered the plant. She then worked for Warner Electric then Walmart. For the past one and a half years at Paragon, Columbia City.
She enjoyed fishing and kayaking. Annually she planted and tended her garden. Her joy in life became her grandchildren who she adored and spend as much time as possible.
She is survived by her children: Summer E. Clingerman of South Whitley; and Jeff D. Clingerman of Columbia City; grandchildren, John Luke Clingerman, Ava Mae Clingerman and Ezlynn Elizabeth Helvie; siblings: Lottie (Kevin) Berkingstresser, Raleigh, N.C.; Lance (Sandy) Babcock, Wilkes-Barre, Penn.; Dale Babcock, Lancaster, Penn.; Kimberly (Kevin) Ewing, Lancaster, Penn.; Jimmy (Amanda) Babcock, Lancaster, Penn.; and Latt (Sandy) Babcock of Columbia City; several nieces and nephews including Latt (Miranda) Babcock of Columbia City; and many cousins including Chad (Kara) Graves of Columbia City.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, with friends and family gathering from 2 p.m. until time of service.
