Yates Named MVP, Trojans Land Five On HNAC Honors

FULTON – Triton had a fantastic 2020-21 basketball season, and were honored even further with the release of the Hoosier North Athletic Conference boys basketball awards.
The Trojans were co-champs of the league, sharing the mark with LaVille. The Lancers and Trojans both were 6-1 in conference play, both a game ahead of Knox in the standings.
Tyson Yates earned conference MVP honors for the season, headlining five All-HNAC selections for the Trojans. Ashton Oviedo also was named First Team All-HNAC, and the trio of Bruce Johnson, Cole McKinney and John Gardner were all named Honorable Mention All-HNAC.
The Lancers had Leyton Czarnecki, Bobby Good and Andrew Dill all as First Team All-HNAC and teammate Ayden Doyle as Honorable Mention.
Also named First Team All-HNAC were Caston’s Joey Spin, Knox’s Cade Short and Gunner Wagner, North Judson’s Blayne Wilcox and Payton Cox, Pioneer’s Ezra Lewellen and Hunter Klepinger and Winamac’s Russell Compton.
Honorable Mentions included Caston’s Kade Zeider, Knox’s Declan Austin and Owen Binkley, Pioneer’s Addai Lewellen, Culver’s Owen Clingler and Winamac’s Beau Brandt.
Final standings were Triton and LaVille at 6-1, followed by Knox (5-2), Pioneer (4-3), Caston, North Judson and Winamac all tied at 2-5 and Culver (1-6).
