Sondra M. Turner
Sondra M. Turner, 88, Rochester, passed away at 7:25 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2021, at her son’s residence in Rochester.
She was born Nov. 2, 1932, in Rochester, the daughter of Harry and Alice (Johns) Basham. On Aug. 6, 1955, in Norfolk, Va., she married James Turner. He preceded her in death March 10, 2015.
Sondra had been a homemaker and previous had worked for Wilson Grains and The Shopping Guide News. She had been a member of Rochester Church of the Nazarene and had been active at the Senior Center. She, along with her husband, was avid Chicago Cubs fans and enjoyed cooking.
Survivors include her children: Jo and husband Philip Pugh, Logansport; Harry Turner, Rochester; Michael Turner, Mishawaka; Robin Lewis, Rochester; Patti Burns, Rochester; grandchildren: Remus Shindledecker, Logansport; Sondra Burns, Rochester; Tommy Burns, Rochester; Maggie May Hollar, Argos; four great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters: Pat (Fred) Bible, Edington, N.C.; Ruth Cluster, Springs, Va.; brothers: James Basham, Georgia; David (Flory) Basham, Norfolk, Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Quinton Shindledecker, brothers, Ernest Bible, Clyde Bible, Harry Bible, Melvin Bible, and Donald Bible.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 14, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with Pastor Don Meyer officiating. Friends may visit from Noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana.
Visitors are reminded to follow COVID-19 guidelines including wearing mask and social distancing. Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Center or the Church of the Nazarene.
