Mona Lynn Shepherd
Mona Lynn Shepherd, 68, Silver Lake, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, in her residence. Mona was born Aug. 1, 1952, in Wabash, to Cleon Dean and Iris Virginia (Blackwell) Overmyer.
She was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Shepherd Aug. 1, 1992, in Warsaw. She was Manchester High School Class of 1970 graduate and in 1974 was a graduate of Manchester College with a bachelors degree in health and physical education.
During her career in the medical field, she was an aid in physical, occupational and cardiac exercise rehabilitation therapies for Kosciusko Community Hospital and was a secondary instructor at Ivy Tech teaching Introduction to medical careers.
Mona was member of Akron United Methodist Church where she served as Pianist and Choir Director. She was famous for sending humorous cards to church members on their birthdays. She had the knack of picking the perfect Christmas ornaments as gifts for Christmas and loved to decorate for the holidays.
Mona is survived by husband, Richard Shepherd, of Silver Lake; children: Adam (Jen) Noffsinger of Elkhart; Tina (Chris) Kingston of East Longmeadow, Mass.; and Rick Shepherd of Warsaw. Furthermore, brothers: Mike (Peggy) Overmyer of Bloomingto;n and Mitch (Kendal) Overmyer of Fort Wayne; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive.
A visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, March 1, with Pastor Dave Eaton officiating in the Funeral Chapel.
Due to current COVID-19 recommendations, masks are required. The public is kindly requested to provide their own. Social distancing is strongly encouraged. No food is permitted at this time.
