Staff Report
WARSAW — Kosciusko County Tobacco Free Coalition Program Director Heidi Blake has been chosen as an American Lung Association Lung Force Hero.
Blake, who has worked at the county tobacco-free coalition for six years, was nominated by an ALA representative and chosen by a committee at the American Lung Association. She was then asked to submit an essay detailing how lung cancer has affected her family.
The American Lung Association selects Lung Force Heroes from across the United States.
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among both men and women in the U.S.
Lung Force Heroes include patients, caregivers, family, friends and co-workers. Current Lung Force Heroes include caregivers, survivors, oncologists and individuals currently fighting lung cancer.
“My son and I work tirelessly due to the loss of our father/grandfather. I was his caregiver during his fight for cancer along with my mom, who worked full-time,” Blake said.
