CVS Pharmacy Technician Accused Of Prescription Drug Theft
Staff Report
WARSAW — A CVS pharmacy technician has been arrested after allegedly stealing prescription medication.
Anjil D. Bradley, 29, with addresses on file as both 201 S. Detroit St., Warsaw, and 5976 S. CR 50W, Claypool, is charged with possession of a legend drug, a level 6 felony; and theft, a class A misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Dec. 21, 2020, a Warsaw Police officer obtained information in reference to theft of drugs from CVS Pharmacy.
The officer learned that Bradley, a CVS pharmacy technician, was being investigated for stealing prescription medications for personal use, as prescription counts were consistently short on the days Bradley worked.
On Jan. 8, information was emailed to the officer regarding an internal investigation. In November 2020, a CVS manager saw Bradley handling Alprazolam when it was not in the queue to be used.
Management noticed other suspicious actions by Bradley as well and began performing counts of Alprazolam after the first incident. It was found that on the days Bradley worked in the pharmacy, Alprazolam counts were consistently low. On Nov. 21, 2020; Nov. 30, 2020 and Dec. 12, 2020, it was determined that Alprazolam tablets were missing.
Review of surveillance video footage showed Bradley handling a bottle of Alprazolam. The bottle is then taken out of view of the camera and then Bradley is seen placing the bottle back on the shelf. During these incidents, there were not active queues open for Alprazolam, indicating that Bradley had no reason to be handling the drug.
When Bradley was interviewed about the thefts on Dec. 18, 2020, she allegedly admitted to taking the Alprazolam tablets for her own personal use. Alprazolam is a legend drug and requires a prescription to possess.
Bradley allegedly further stated that she stole Suboxone the previous year for personal use as well. The total value of prescription medication stolen by Bradley was determined to be $124.78.
Bradley was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail Feb. 20 on a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
