Warsaw Woman Arrested For Sexual Misconduct With Minor
Staff Report
PIERCETON — A Warsaw woman was recently arrested after having a sexual relationship with a person under the age of 18.
Hannah Marie Miller, 22, 840 S. Union St., Warsaw, is charged with sexual misconduct with a minor, a level 4 felony; and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a class A misdemeanor.
As defined in Indiana Code 35-42-4-9, sexual misconduct with a minor is when a person at least 18 years of age performs or submits to sexual intercourse or other sexual conduct with a child who is at least 14 years of age but less than 16 years of age. The offense becomes a Level 4 felony if the acts are committed by a person at least 21 years of age.
On Jan. 28, a Pierceton Police officer was investigating a suspicious vehicle parked on Seventh Street. Through his investigation, the officer learned that the vehicle, owned by Miller, appeared to be involved in a vehicle accident.
According to court documents, later that day, the officer received a complaint from an unnamed person regarding a minor driving a vehicle without a driver’s license and allegedly having a sexual relationship with Miller. The person said Miller provided the minor with alcoholic beverages and allowed the minor to drive her vehicle.
On Jan. 29, the officer interviewed the minor about the allegations. The minor admitted to driving Miller’s vehicle without a driver’s license and to having a sexual relationship with Miller. The minor said they had a few sexual encounters with Miller and that the first encounters occurred while they were intoxicated after consuming alcohol provided by Miller.
That same day, the officer spoke with Miller. Miller admitted to allowing the minor to drive her vehicle. She said that in late December 2020, she gave alcohol to the minor and had sex with them at a hotel.
Miller also admitted to having an ongoing sexual relationship with the minor and listed several other area hotels and her vehicle as locations they had sexual encounters during December 2020 and January 2021.
Miller was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Feb. 19, with a $15,250 surety and cash bond.
