Katy Persing-Eby
Katy Persing-Eby, 90, formerly of Nappanee, went to be with the Lord at 5:53 p.m., Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, at her son’s house in Goshen surrounded by family.
She was born Oct. 7, 1930 in Caldwell, Ohio to Joseph and Roxie (Stewart) Racey. She was a 1948 graduate of Spring Arbor High School in Michigan where she was Valedictorian of her class. On Oct. 2, 1948, she married Wendell Persing. He preceded her in death Oct. 4, 1994. Her second marriage was to Everett Eby on Aug. 30, 2001. He preceded her in death Feb. 21, 2006.
Katy was a homemaker; she enjoyed her grandchildren by passing on her spiritual legacy. She was a member of Nappanee Missionary Church for 39 years. Katy was a faithful prayer warrior, and taught Sunday School for 50 years. She graded Bible study papers for Gospel Echoes Prison Ministry, taught women’s Bible studies, and financially supported many missionaries. She loved to travel and was an avid walker.
Surviving are her children, Sheryl (John) Sheldon, Boynton Beach, Fla.; Rick (Donna) Persing, Goshen; Lynette (Fritz) Good, Noblesville; Shana (Lavon) Zehr, Lake Worth, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 5 step children. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; great-grandson, Jaxson James; and a step daughter.
Family and friends may call from 10 a.m.-noon, Friday, Feb. 19, at Nappanee Missionary Church Worship Center, use Entrance A. A celebration of life service will follow at noon. Pastor Dave Engbrecht, with Nappanee Missionary Church, and Pastor Fritz Good, with Harbor Shores Church, Cicero, will officiate. Services will be live streamed at nmc.church/funeral. Inurnment will take place at Union Center Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations may be given to Alabaster Jar INDY an outreach ministry to sexually exploited and vulnerable women and girls in various venues.
