Ferris E. Fisher Jr.
Ferris E. Fisher Jr., 86, passed away on Feb. 9, 2021, at 6:30 p.m. at his home.
Ferris was the son of Ferris Fisher Sr. and Raeta (McGay) Fisher. He was born on Feb. 28, 1934, in Pilot Point, Texas, and resided in Raymondville, Texas, during his younger years. He had spent the last several years residing in Etna Green.
Ferris was proud to serve his country as a veteran in the Korean War and two times in the Vietnam War as a Huey helicopter “chopper” pilot. He also lived in Alaska and drove a truck, hauling needed materials for the Alaskan pipeline.
He was loved by his close friends, Laura and Brett Garver, Warsaw, and the Tommy, Ashley Stills family, Etna Green, that helped him often at his home and activities. The Etna Green community treated him like family for years, looking out for him.
He would often frequent the Etna Green Cafe to visit with dear friends, drink coffee, enjoy meals and talk politics or tell jokes. In retirement years, he enjoyed traveling in his RV with Ruth. He loved all animals, especially his dog, Willy. He found pleasure in watching hummingbirds through his front window as well as watching western movies and reminiscing about historical events.
Those who will miss him and whom he loved are his daughters, Anna Marie Logan, Alaska, and Cynthia Scott Clark, Arkansas, along with his son, Ferris Fisher III, and his spouse, Bobbie Baca, Texas; grandchildren Latishah Logan, Sentiera Stricklin, Maurice Stricklin, Bradley Fisher and his spouse, Alexandria, Kimberly Williams, Raymond Ellis and Mark Ellis; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his long-time companion Ruth Linderman.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, cremation services are being provided. A graveside celebration of life at the Etna Green Cemetery will be held in the spring of 2021. Notice of the celebration will be posted in town at several locations along with on Facebook Etna Green Community and Etna Green Cares.
A GoFundMe account has been established for Bob to pay for his cremation and burial/headstone in the Etna Green Cemetery. If any excess funds are received, the overabundance will be donated to the Etna Green town to use at their discretion.
