Daniel K. Butt
Daniel K. Butt, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, at his home.
Born on Oct. 6, 1967, in Akron, Daniel was the son of Lyle and LaVada (McEvoy) Butt. He attended Tippecanoe Valley High School in Akron, graduating with the Class of 1986.
On May 5, 2020, at the Plymouth courthouse, Daniel married Diana Loehmer.
Daniel served from 1998 until the present with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department as a captain.
He had his helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft pilot’s license. In his free time, Daniel loved to fish, shoot guns and compete in MMA events where he held a black belt. He was known as a good cook, especially when it came to preparing the Thanksgiving turkey.
Daniel was a member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church where he would serve as a lector. He also was a member of the Freemason Plymouth-Kilwinning Lodge No. 149.
He is survived by his parents, Lyle and LaVada, Akron; wife Diana Butt, Culver; son Ryan (Sami) Butt, San Diego, Calif.; brother Troy (Debbie) Butt, Texas; sister Jill (Trey) Sawtelle and their children Mac and Gracy, Frisco, Texas; stepchildren Ryan (Julie) Loehmer, Wabash, Justin (Miranda) Loehmer, Monterey, and Jenna and Sarah Loehmer, Culver; granddaughters Abby and Aliyssa; godson Rykar Caswell; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 18, from 3-7 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St, Plymouth.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. at Plymouth Wesleyan Church, 11203 Michigan Road, Plymouth, with Fr. Bill Meininger officiating.
Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, 1400 Pioneer Drive, Plymouth, IN 46563, or the Marshall County Humane Society, 11165 13th Road, Plymouth, IN 46563.
The entire funeral home staff will wear masks. It is mandated that family members and their guests do so as well.
