Warsaw Man Arrested After Officers Find More Than 12 Grams Of Heroin

WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested after a traffic stop resulted in the discovery of more than 12 grams of heroin.
James Allen Runyon, 49, 1021 S. CR 675W, Warsaw, is charged with possession of a narcotic drug, a level 4 felony; possession of cocaine, a level 5 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On Jan. 10, a Warsaw Police officer was on patrol on West Winona Avenue when he passed by a Ford Escape with a very loud exhaust. The officer turned around, followed the vehicle and checked its license plate, which returned to a Chevrolet Cavalier. This led the officer to pull the vehicle over on West Crystal Lake Road.
According to court documents, officers identified the driver as Runyon. When Runyon exited the vehicle, officers noticed a clear plastic bag containing 5.6 grams of cocaine. Runyon admitted to officers that he used drugs about an hour prior to being pulled over and that he bought drugs in South Bend.
While searching Runyon, officers found a plastic bag containing a methamphetamine pipe and pieces of foil containing 0.6 grams of methamphetamine. Officers also found a plastic bag containing 12.1 grams of heroin in Runyon’s right shoe.
Runyon has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance.
