Ruby L. Unsicker
Ruby L. Unsicker, 89, Bremen, went home to be with our Lord at 3:10 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, with her family by her side.
Ruby was born Oct. 23, 1931, and was the daughter of Virgil R. and Florence (Hawkins) Mikel. Ruby was married to Willis Garrett and together they had three sons, John, Randy and Fred Garrett. Ruby married Robert E. Unsicker on July 8, 1969, and they enjoyed 51 and a half years together.
Ruby has always had a love and talent for growing flowers. This got her nicknamed “The Flower Lady”. Ruby enjoyed traveling with Robert out west to see family and friends. She was also very blessed at the Blue Chip Casino. She hardly every missed a Thursday.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, siblings which include Bemis Mikel, Mary Mikel, Joy Van DeKeere, Ruth Mikel and Wilma Hepler; sons, John and Randy Garrett and great granddaughter, Bridgette Danielle Thacker.
Ruby is survived by her siblings, Virginia Smith of Elkhart; Carolyn (Marvin) Rutherford of Bristol, Tenn.; Erma Jackson of Elkhart; John Mikel of Wakarusa, Charles Mikel of Arkansas; William Mikel of Florida and George Mikel of Bremen; children: Fred Garrett, Sandra (Tom) Wimmer, Tammy (Larry) Britt, Robert (Rocky) Unsicker, Jr.; grandchildren: Justin Garrett, Nichole Garrett, Christa Benson, Tiffiney DeWitt, Timothy (Jennifer) Thacker, Josh (Angela) Wimmer, Adam (Hailey) Wimmer, Heath Hicks, Jeremy Hicks, Jamie (Drew) Reed, Brandy (Justin) Morseau, Grace (Mike) Nyhius, Laura (Kenny Young) Unsicker, and Kate (Nate) Flores; and great grandchildren, Devon, Skylar, Xavier, Robert, Bradley, Aletta, Luke, Logan, Natalie, Nathan, Tamara, Laney, Landon, Heaven, Jordyn, Tristan, Kaston, Easton “Boone”, Cash and Adelyn.
A private family service will be held in the Bremen Cemetery. Chaplain Wyatt Smith will officiate.
