Charlie Ray Henson Sr.
Charlie Ray Henson Sr., 78, Warsaw, passed away at 11:11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021.
He was born on Aug. 29, 1942, in Gary, to Nanie (Rixie) Henson and Leslie Roy Henson. On May 20, 1962, he was married to Rellie May (Auxier) Henson. They raised four children and shared 58 years of marriage together before he passed away.
Charlie had been a resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana for the past 20 years. As a very young man he learned to work hard and to take on whatever job he was able to do. Before moving to Warsaw, he had worked at Queen Anne Candy Company in Gary, Indiana for several years. For a number of years he worked at Supreme Corporation manufacturing box trucks and refrigeration units. Charlie got up every day and always did what needed to be done until he retired in 1997. He enjoyed the simple things in life and was content to watch T.V. and smoke his cigarettes. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He will be remembered by his wife: Rellie May Henson, Warsaw; two sons: Charlie Henson, Jr., Texas; Kevin Henson, Peru; and his daughter: Sherry Durflinger, Ligonier. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and his son, Danny Henson in 2018.
Charlie’s life will be celebrated at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16, and officiated by Ken Locke at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
