WARSAW — Three land leases received approval during the Warsaw Board of Aviation Commissioners meeting held tonight, Feb. 9.
The first two land leases were current tenants who wanted to extend their lease for another term. Airport Manager Nick King stated that both Bill Stoffer and Bill Cook were excellent tenants and he saw no issue with the new leases. These two leases were approved through Dec. 31, 2030.
The third land lease involved David Goshert and a co-tenant with Hangar 22. These tenants have already used their option to extend and have had their lease for 20 years now. The board approved extending a new lease through Dec. 31, 2040.
During the manager’s report, King stated that January was a pretty quiet month.
“January usually is and the inclement weather has not been helpful with that at all. We’re doing everything we can to keep it plowed but the snow keeps piling up,” said King. “I don’t see these numbers changing much in the near future. COVID has still got a pretty tight grip on corporate aviation — general aviation is slowly picking up — but I don’t see a whole lot of corporate flights happening here in the next few months. But I do hope that changes as more vaccines become available later this year.”
On the bright side, the income statement for January started the year off in the black. King stated that the first month of the year is always good due to land lease checks and rent checks.
Mary Kerstein, CHA project manager, didn’t have much to report at the meeting either.
The runway rehabilitation project is on hold until painting can be completed in the spring. CHA is continuing to work with the FFA regarding the powerline project, but no updates have occurred. As for the hangar door project, they are still waiting on necessary documents before moving forward.
The next meeting will occur at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9.
