WARSAW — Super Geeks & Gaming in Warsaw is changing its business outlook due to the pandemic.
The North Detroit Street establishment, which currently offers nerdy items for purchase such as video games, comic books and action figures, formerly had a video gaming lounge where patrons could come in and play games.
However, as a result of COVID-19 restrictions, the gaming lounge was shut down.
“It just wasn’t financially smart to try and keep it when we couldn’t hold large tournaments,” said Rich Syndram, one of Super Geeks’ owners. “We still offer room for tabletop playing and D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) groups.”
The big change Super Geeks & Gaming is making to its business is the addition of axe throwing. Super Geeks will offer leagues, tournaments, walk-ins and reservations for axe throwing.
“Axe throwing was a plan we had for the future in a different location once we had Super Geeks & Gaming built up,” said Syndram. “The funny part is the plan was for axe throwing to go live in 2021 because Super Geeks was doing awesome and having record months until the pandemic. By the feedback we are getting since we announced (axe throwing), we think it was a good move to make.”
Escape rooms will also be returning to Super Geeks after being closed due to the pandemic. They will be family-oriented and geek-themed, with the first focused on the Nintendo gaming series “Super Mario Brothers.” To allow for cleaning time between groups, the rooms will not be booked back-to-back.
Super Geeks is also revamping its “Level Up Café” by focusing on having a larger variety of sliders and hot dogs on its menu. Current menu items such as tots, fries, mozzarella sticks and chicken nuggets will still be available.
Super Geeks is aiming to have a March 1 grand opening for all of the new additions. For more information, contact Super Geeks at (574) 549-9978.
