One Arrested For Thefts In Marshall County

MARSHALL COUNTY — Michaw A. Harris, Benton Harbor, Mich., was arrested by Marshall County authorities in connection with thefts from vehicles in the area of Deer Trail and Pilgrim Meadows subdivision in Marshall County.
Harris has been charged with 10 counts of unauthorized entry of motor vehicles, class B misdemeanors; nine counts of theft, class A misdemeanors; and one count of auto theft, a level 6 felony. He was arrested on Feb. 2. Warrants for his arrest were issued on Jan. 6. His bond has been set at $10,000 cash.
Officials with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department report on Dec. 12, 2020, the department received several reports of thefts from vehicles. One of the reports was from Matt Tolson who explained his 2012 Chevrolet Cruze had been stolen from his residence. On Dec. 6, in Kouts, persons reported suspicious activity of vehicles being broken into and investigated the complaint. A pursuit was initiated involving the stolen Cruze and three suspects were apprehended in the area of the Porter County Expo Center, SR 49. Those suspects are believed to all be from the Michigan area.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department then continued with the investigation of the stolen car and items from various vehicles, leading to the warrant for Harris.
