North Webster Library’s History And Genealogy Center Updating NW Cemetery Database
News Release
NORTH WEBSTER — According to an old adage, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Discover the tree you fell from at North Webster Community Public Library.
The library’s Local History and Genealogy Center offers many resources for researching your family tree. Access to Ancestry.com, the premiere genealogy website, is available inside the library free of charge along with a knowledgeable staff to help you get started. Other national and local resources are also available including over 130 local family histories.
Several genealogy tools and databases are available on the library’s website at www.nweb.lib.in.us and can be accessed from your home computer without a library card. These resources include local cemetery and obituary databases.
The Local History and Genealogy Center is in the process of updating its North Webster Cemetery Database by adding photos of individuals who are buried there. If anyone has photos of someone buried in North Webster Cemetery and is willing to share it with the library, the staff will scan the photo and upload it to the database. Original photos will be returned after scanning. Digital photos can also be accepted. Digital photos can be emailed to [email protected]. Be sure to identify the persons shown in the photos. The cemetery database is a useful tool for those researching their family history. Many entries include copies of obituaries and death certificates that include details about individuals’ lives.
North Webster Cemetery database, along with other resources, is available to the public on the library’s website by clicking on the Local History and Genealogy tab at the top of the home page.
