Milford Public Library Offering Valentine’s Day Crafts
Press Release
MILFORD — The Milford Public Library will close at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, for a staff in-service.
The library will reopen at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10. Books or DVDs can be returned in the drop boxes located on the south side of the building.
Valentine Craft Supplies
Beginning Feb. 1, in the children’s department of the library, children can take craft supplies home to make a loved one a Valentine’s Day card. A table will be set up with craft supplies, as well as Valentine’s coloring pages. Take what you need. Library staff encourage children to use their imagination and add joy to someone’s day.
Virtual Preschool Story Time
Children ages three to six are welcome to join the library’s virtual story time at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays from Feb. 3 to March 10. Please sign up in the children’s department or by phone at (574) 658-4312. A library card is not needed to participate. Feel free to invite your child’s friends to attend. A craft, snack and juice packet will be available each week. The group will read stories, make a craft together and share a snack. A weekly e-mail is sent out with the Zoom meeting number.
Adult Reading Club
If you haven’t already signed up to participate in the adult reading club, you may still do so. Sign up at the adult circulation desk. For every book or eBook patrons read or audiobook listened to, they can enter their name in a weekly drawing. Each week until March 31, library staff will draw a name and someone will win a $25 gift card. If you are reading this winter away, you should sign up and you might win a gift card.
Milford’s Adult Reading Club activity for February is to make chew toys for furry friends. Pick up a kit at the adult circulation desk and follow the instructions inside. You will end up with a fantastic chew toy for a dog. Bring your creation back to the library and staff will donate the chew toys to a local animal shelter. Furry friends need love too.
Virtual Concert
Grab your family and take a musical trip with pianist Dan Fogel as he plays iconic themes that you all know and love, from video games such as “Super Mario Bros.,” “Zelda,” “Final Fantasy” and “Angry Birds,” to television shows like “Bewitched,” “Friends,” “Addams Family,” “Jeopardy” and “Simpsons,” and even movies such as “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” “Titanic,” “Star Wars,” “Twilight” and more.
Sign up for this free virtual program in the adult department or by phone at (574) 658-4312. A YouTube link will be e-mailed to those who sign up and provide their e-mail addresses.
