Man Accused Of Domestic Battery, Strangulation
Staff Report
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after allegedly battering a woman.
Michael J. Kabala, Jr., 45, 62 EMS C31 Lane, Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present and strangulation, both level 6 felonies; and invasion of privacy, a class A misdemeanor.
On Nov. 26, 2020, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s officer went to a residence regarding a report of an unwanted person. The officer met with a woman, who said Kabala was at the residence even though a no-contact order was in place.
According to court documents, the woman said Kabala became upset and broke into the residence. He battered the woman by picking her up and carrying her in a headlock from the kitchen to the living room. The woman told police she felt like she was going to pass out because she could not breathe.
Kabala then allegedly slammed the woman against a door frame, resulting in the woman hitting the back of her head. The woman showed the officer a clump of her hair that had been pulled out by Kabala during the incident. The officer also noticed a bump on the back of the woman’s head and a scratch on her neck.
Following the incident, the woman went to a neighbor’s residence to call for help. Two children were in the residence during the incident. One of the children said they saw Kabala hit the woman, court paperwork says.
Kabala has a pending domestic battery case for an incident that occurred in August 2020; the woman in the November case is also the victim in the pending matter. In the pending case, a no-contact order was issued, prohibiting Kabala from having contact with the woman.
Kabala was booked for the November 2020 incident on Jan. 21, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
